The Drift

Welcome to The Drift!

This is the website of The Drift, Brinton, Norfolk. It is a website for guests and potential guests of this cottage.

We love this part of Norfolk and think that the location of this cottage is superb. In our opinion, many of the best things to do in Norfolk are within a short drive of the cottage and its position is perfect for exploring many of the best things up and down the coast as well as more inland.

We have a number of favourite places to visit. We also asked our children to tell us their top places in case you are visiting with children.

It doesn't really matter which time of year you choose to visit. The spring and summer have lovely beaches, sun rises and sunsets, outdoor dining, walking and cycling. The autumn has mists, rutting deer, changing trees and warm fires. The winter brings skeins of geese and colonies of seals and their pups to fill the skies and beaches respectively. At any time of year there are sweeping views under large, open skies.

The Drift cottage was built in the 1850's. It has kept many of the original features and we hope that you find it comfy and cosy. For cooler days it has excellent heating, a wood buring stove and a conservatory with underfloor heating. Downstairs there is a well equipped kitchen, dining and sitting room. Overlooking the garden there is a conservatory that is perfect for morning coffee, an evening drink or cards and games. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a single bed room or cot room. It is child friendly with a contained garden, quiet surroundings, and child gate on the stairs. Pets are allowed.

The cottage is situated in the North Norfolk village of Brinton, a conservation area in the lovely Glaven valley and is positioned close to a number of recognised 'Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The sea and coast are only six miles away, meaning some of the best beaches in North Norfolk are only a short drive, or cycle ride away. The town of Holt is close by with its lovely coffee shops, great food and drink, and boutique shops. Otherwise, lovely National Trust properties and privately owned estates are within a close drive.

We asked our children what their favourite things do to were. Unsurprisingly their likes change depending on the time of year and the weather, but listed on the 'things to do with children' tab above are their current favourites.

This website is not exhaustive, but may provide you with some ideas for things to do whilst you are here.

Most of all, if you choose to visit and stay we hope that you have a lovely time.
